Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Pham Duc An made the statement when receiving French Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Étienne Ranaivoson on Wednesday.
The city leader believed that, with his experience and commitment, the French diplomat will make effective and practical contributions to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and France, particularly in strengthening cooperation and exchanges between Da Nang and French localities.
Informing about the city’s socio-economic development situation after the recent administrative merger, Mr. An noted that Da Nang boasted two international airports, three international seaports, two UNESCO World Heritage sites: Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary, a Free Trade Zone, an International Financial Center, the Da Nang High-Tech Park, the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and several industrial zones, along with many special mechanisms granted by the central government.
These favorable conditions created a strong foundation for Da Nang to foster international cooperation in investment, trade, tourism, science and technology, and innovation, he noted.
Highlighting France’s global reputation not only in fashion but also in technology, Chairman An voiced his hope that French enterprises will visit and learn about the city’s investment climate.

To date, Da Nang has attracted 35 French-invested projects worth nearly US$ 234 million in total. These projects focus mainly on the fields of services, management consulting, computer programming, architecture, tourism – services, and manufacturing industries.
In tourism, the city’s specialized agencies have promoted the signing of cooperation agreements with Sens City and several French companies to boost online tourism marketing to European markets.
During the working trip to France made by Da Nang’s officials in early October 2025, the city signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Council of Le Havre City to establish a friendship and cooperation relationship.
This laid a solid foundation for a new chapter of practical and sustainable collaboration between the two cities, especially in potential areas such as economy, urban planning, innovation, higher education, and port development.
Chairman An affirmed that Da Nang will create the best conditions for French businesses and investors to come and invest in the city, especially in spheres of technology and finance.
For his part, Consul General Étienne Ranaivoson thanked the leaders of Da Nang for their warm welcome.
He pledged that during his tenure, he will do his utmost to strengthen the good relationships between Vietnam and France in general, and Da Nang and French localities in particular, as well as act as a bridge to encourage more French businesses to explore and invest in Da Nang.
