The Da Nang government has allowed construction sites of some of the city’s key projects to resume work in a bid to ensure their on – scheduled progress after many downed tools in late July to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Getting these contruction sites back to work will help drive the economic recovery in the city. However, social-distancing measures must be followed, the city authorities stressed. These contruction sites are required to put in place strict infection prevention and control measures for Covid-19, use more machine power than human labour. In addition, these sites are located at coronavirus low-risk areas, and far away from residential areas.
Covering an area of 122,430m2 in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, the 2,400 billion VND Mikazuki Spa & Hotel Resort project matches the city’s tourism service development strategies, accelerating the growth of the northwestern part of Da Nang , and also importantly, helping the city attract more foreign investors in the time to come.
This large-scale project was back to a full swing on Monday following the district authorities-granted permission. Currently, the 1st stage of this large-scale project is nearing completion, and it is expected to deliver in September.
According to the Lien Chieu District authorities, the Mikazuki Spa & Hotel project is really far from residential area. Also, all contruction engineers and workers are staying only within the site and are strictly following the compulsory coronavirus prevention measures to ensure safety for themselves and others. They are required to wear face coverings, disinfect their hands, queue for having their body temperatures measured, and stay two metre apart at all times while in the construction site to limit the spread of the virus.
In addition to the Mikazuki Spa & Hotel project, work has resumed on construction sites of the wastewater collection system along the Da Co Canal, the Transport Infrastructure Improvement Project, the Da Nang Sustainable Development Project and the building of a ring road in the western part of the city.
In order to avoid crowds and ‘non-essential gatherings’, workers at these construction sites are divided into small groups. In particular, the lunch breaks and stretch breaks of the workers are staggered to avoid the clustering of workers.
In Son Tra District, work is also allowed to resume on such construction sites of such major projects as the water environment improvement project in the eastern part of the city and the building of the western ring road, the DT601 road and riverside Tien Son – Tuy Loan route, all of which are far away from residential areas.
In a similar vein, the Hoa Vang authorities have allowed to reopen construction sites for the building of DH2 road and the construction of the Hoa Lien water supply plant, and the deployment of some projects in the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park.
In related news, the Da Nang government has asked for permission from the Prime Minister on bringing a number of stranded construction workers who are from other localities nationwide back to their homes as per their request because their construction sites are closing due to coronavirus outbreak.
Currently, more than 350 labourers working at large-scale construction works are in desperate need of getting home.
According to Mr Nguyen Van An, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, pending the official nod from Vietr Nam’s national government, his agency is working closely with other relevant agencies to give timely and kind support to the stranded workers who now live in either rental accommodations or at construction sites to be closed to respond to Covid-19.
Mr An suggested that such immigrants workers should be brought back to home by train rather than coach which might limit the number of stops for drop-off passengers during their journey.
All the workers will have their samples taken for testing for coronavirus before making home comeback.
