Tet flower market in city promises various types, beautiful blooms

With over 2 weeks to go to the Tet Festival, flower growers across Da Nang are now busy taking care of their products in order to offer the best to their customers in the upcoming holiday. Mr Tran Duy Nuoi, an owner of a flower garden in Cam Le District’s Hoa Tho Tay Ward, said his garden had over 7,500 pots of different kinds of flowers which have been taken care of well for a long time. In order to meet the increasing demand of customers, Mr Nguyen Van Nho, a flower grower at the Van Duong Flowers and Ornamental Plants Cooperative in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Lien Commune, has spent a lot of money and time on planting such eye-catching flowers as begonias, peonies, dahlias, periwinkles, sunflowers, tulips, and orchids. Some flower growers are predicting that there would be a 10% rise in the prices of Tet flowers due to a hike in the prices of labours, flower varieties, and fertilisers. In addition, prices of flowers will vary depending on the types of flowers and sizes of pots. In particular, a pair of chrysanthemum pots will be offered at between 300,000 VND and 2 million VND, whilst lilies will be sold at prices ranging between 200,000 VND and 300,000 VND per pot. Meanwhile, between 600,000 VND and 700,000 VND will be asked for a pair of marigolds. Recently, flower traders have already bought products from the Van Duong, Duong Son, Nhon Tho and Hoa Tho Tay cooperatives. These products will be then transported to the provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam. Many companies across the city have ordered a large amount of flowers from local growers for Tet decorations. Most notably, some flower growers have received many orders for floral decorations at a park near the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge. Mr Nguyen Van Mai from the Van Duong Cooperative said more than 1,000 pots of chrysanthemum have been sold out.
