Seminar to promote investment into Da Nang held in Japan’s Fukuyama

Within the framework of their ongoing working trip to South Korea and Japan, on September 29, a delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son, attended a seminar on promoting investment into the city held in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Province, Japan. In attendance at the seminar were General Director of Ronze Group, Chairman of Bingo Semiconductor Technology Promotion Association (BISTEC), and more than 50 leaders of Japanese technology enterprises. In his remarks at the event, Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son emphasised that 2023 marked the 50 th anniversary of the establishment of the Viet Nam-Japan diplomatic ties. The friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries have been strengthened and developed comprehensively in all fields. He added Japan is the largest investor in the city, accounting for 23% of the total FDI projects and 25% of the total FDI capital. The city always considers Japan as a top strategic and important partner, actively contributing to its socio-economic development in the past and in the future. Currently, Da Nang is prioritising attracting investment in high-tech and clean industries, and environmentally friendly products, as well as encouraging the use of green energy sources in producing and developing low-emission technologies. The development of economy associated with environmental protection is one of the city’s important requirements and top priorities contributing to its sustainable development. Mr. Son voiced his hope that more Japanese investors will invest in the city and become an important part in the socio-economic development process of Viet Nam in general, and Da Nang in particular. During the seminar, the participants were given a brief overview of the city’s business investment environment, technical infrastructure, transportation system, seaport, airport and human resources, along with its mechanisms and policies to attract investment into local hi-tech, concentrated information technology and industrial parks. Meanwhile, Japanese investors showed their keen interest in a number of issues related to investment incentives, scale and procedures, plus human resources. Many of them hoped to visit Da Nang in order to seek investment opportunities in the city in the coming time. On the same day, the Da Nang delegation had a working session with the Ronze Group specialising in semiconductor industry. They were welcomed by General Director of Ronze Group, and Chairman of Bingo Semiconductor Technology Promotion Association. Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the city leaders, Mr. Tran Phuoc Son said that the city always created the most favourable conditions for Japanese investors to promote investment opportunities in Da Nang. Previously, on September 28, the delegation of Da Nang’s officials visited and worked at the Wakaura Fishing Port in Wakayama Prefecture of Japan. Receiving the delegation were CEO of the Wakaura Fishing Port and Airport Hanada Shoichi, and CEO of International Relations Okazawa Toshihiko, and leaders and members of the Wakaura Fishing Port. During the meeting, the delegation were briefed on Japan’s fishing port system and took a field trip to the Wakaura Fishing Port in Wakayama Prefecture. In addition to agriculture, seafood catching and processing is the strength of the Japanese locality as half of its boundary borders the sea. Among Wakayama’s seafood, the most famous is tuna.
