The city’s export turnover to China reaches an average of US$ 45 million per year, whilst its imports stand at around US$200 million per year.

The key imported goods are engines, components, machinery for production, iron and steel, textile and garment raw materials, rubber, toys, chemicals, fertilizers, plastics, plastic granules and consumer goods.

Da Nang maintains official friendship ties with five Chinese localities, namely Shandong, Jiangsu, Macau, Kunming (Yunnan) and Guangxi. The city and these Chinese localities regularly organize delegation exchanges, cultural programs and people-to-people cooperation.

Secretary Le Ngoc Quang noted that after the administrative merger, Da Nang has greater development space, with industry identified as a new growth driver alongside services and tourism.

To the south, the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone has formed a hub for automobile production, supporting industries and precision mechanics. Meanwhile, to the north there is a High-Tech Park focusing on the production of electronic components, software and artificial intelligence. With this potential, the city hoped that China, especially the Chinese Consulate General in Da Nang, will continue to encourage more businesses to invest in the city’s priority areas.

The city leader also briefed his guest on outstanding special policies approved by the central government, notably the establishment of an International Financial Center and a Free Trade Zone. Given China’s extensive experience and success with similar models, Da Nang looked forward to knowledge-sharing, support, and Chinese-language training cooperation.

The city’s Party chief Quang voiced his hope to receive support from China in expanding exchange programs, facilitating local officials to attend short-term training courses in China, and reopening direct flights between Da Nang and Chinese localities.

He also expressed his desire that the Chinese Consul General will continue acting as an important bridge to reinforce cooperation between Da Nang and partners across China.
