As part of their ongoing working trip to Germany, a delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Duc Dung and Vice Chairman of the local People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung met with leaders of Chemnitz on Wednesday.

In talks with Mr. Ralph Burghart, Deputy Mayor of Chemnitz, Chairman Dung expressed his deep impression of the development of Chemnitz in industry, science and technology, innovation, especially semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI).
The delegation was also impressed by the development of the Fraunhofer Institute and the related infrastructure system for testing microchip products.
Chairman Dung informed about the city’s development situation following the recent merger.
In particular, the city boasts two large airports, three international seaports, two UNESCO World Heritage sites, biosphere reserves and well-improved infrastructure such as high-tech zones, economic zones, industrial parks and free trade zones.

Thanks to this, Da Nang has favorable conditions to enhance international cooperation, attract investment, boost trade and tourism, foster science – technology and innovation, and promote the development of semiconductors, AI, and cloud computing.
He added that Da Nang has many unique cultural products to introduce to international friends such as Hoi An Ancient Town, Museum of Cham Sculpture, and international fireworks festival.
Noting many similarities and potential for cooperation and development between Chemnitz and Da Nang, the city leader proposed the two sides cooperate in the fields of training and education, scientific research, innovation, and tourism.
Mr. Dung took the opportunity to invite Chemnitz leaders to visit Da Nang to learn more about cooperation opportunities of mutual interest.

For his part, Deputy Mayor Ralph Burghart expressed his agreement with cooperation proposals between the two cities made by the Da Nang leader. He expressed hope to visit Da Nang soon and promote specific cooperation contents with the city.
After the working session, the Da Nang delegation visited some economic and social development sites in Chemnitz.
Chemnitz is the third largest city in the state of Saxony, with a population of about 240,000 people.
It is famous for its tradition of mechanical engineering, automobiles, sensor and microtechnology, with an average GDP per capita of nearly 36,000 Euros.
The city will be the European Capital of Culture in 2025, with many typical research institutes, universities, and cultural landmarks. It also plays the role as a hub for creativity and international cooperation in the region.
