A delegation of Da Nang officials, led by Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Duc Dung and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung, recently had working sessions with partners in the Netherlands to foster cooperation in smart city development, aviation and seaports.

In Amsterdam, the delegation met with leaders of the Amsterdam Smart City Project Management Agency.
Hosting the Da Nang delegation, Ms. Dagmar Keim, Director of the Agency, shared insights into Amsterdam’s journey from concept to implementation of smart and innovative city initiatives that address challenges such as urban housing, energy, flooding, and climate change.
She also highlighted lessons learned in public-private partnerships and human resource training in the public sector.
Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council Nguyen Duc Dung hoped to continue to receive valuable sharing from Amsterdam in investment, management and consultancy to build a modern, smart, and livable city with a distinct identity.

During their working session with NACO, a unit with extensive experience in airport planning in the world and many years of cooperation in Vietnam, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung informed about the Chu Lai International Airport upgrade project.
The Vietnamese government has designated Chu Lai as a level 4F international airport. Da Nang is also studying the planning for the synchronous development of complexes around the airport, aiming to develop a hub for commerce, services, logistics, and high technology, he said.
Mr. Hung voiced his hope that NACO will explore cooperation opportunities with Da Nang in consulting on airport design solutions prioritizing sustainability, energy efficiency, and smart technology.
Da Nang is preparing to call for investment in the Chu Lai International Airport project in early 2026 under a public-private partnership model and expects NACO to help connect reputable international investors, he added.

Also in Amsterdam, the Da Nang delegation worked with Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V., a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis N.V. Group, a global company specialized in construction and maintenance of maritime infrastructure such as dredging, reclamation, and salvage and rescue operations.
Regional Manager Clovis Brouillard introduced the delegation to large-scale maritime projects that the company has been implementing in foreign countries including the UAE and Singapore.
In Vietnam, Royal Boskalis gets involved in the construction and operation of the Cai Mep Ha Logistics Center in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Da Nang delegation also shared information related to a number of ongoing projects such as Lien Chieu Port, dredging of Cua Lo channel in Chu Lai Economic Zone, dredging of Truong Giang River, and construction projects of sea encroachment areas.
