In particular, the Ministry of Finance held an investment promotion conference in London on September 16, underscoring the country’s strong commitment to deepening economic and financial ties with the UK.
The event attracted nearly 300 representatives of large enterprises, corporations, banks, investment funds from Vietnam and abroad, as well as media agencies.
Speaking at the conference, Director of the Da Nang Department of Finance Tran Thi Thanh Tam emphasized Vietnam’s strategic vision in building international financial centers, with Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City selected as the two locations for such development.
With that orientation, the city has allocated 18 hectares of cleared land in the center to build an international-standard financial center.
In the long term, it will develop the 62-hectare An Don Financial District and earmark 300 hectares out of a total of 1,500 hectares in the national dynamic urban area to build a financial center.
She added that Da Nang was the first city in Vietnam to establish a free trade zone.
Currently, the city boasts a diverse international infrastructure system with an international submarine fiber optic cable station, two international airports (one receiving a five-star rating from SkyTrax), and three international seaports, along with a system of a dedicated information technology zone, an open economic zone, and a high-tech park.
With its modern infrastructure, world-class amenities, and amazing natural landscapes, Da Nang is well-positioned to become one of Asia’s emerging centers for commerce, innovation, digital technology, and smart finance.
At the same time, the city is prioritizing investment in traffic and digital infrastructure, and data centers, as well as developing innovation spaces to serve the future international financial center.
Moreover, the city is paying attention to developing high-quality human resources by selecting talented and experienced staff take part in internships and intensive training programs at major financial centers worldwide.
It is also working with universities to design training courses on international finance, financial technology, and blockchain, while inviting major global financial institutions to collaborate with the city.
According to Director Tam, Da Nang is looking forward to welcoming and accompanying investors, financial institutions, and international experts on the journey to realize its vision of developing a modern, innovative, friendly, and trustworthy international financial center in Vietnam.
