Da Nang promotes partnerships on semiconductors and AI in Germany

On October 1, a delegation from Da Nang led by Nguyen Duc Dung, Chairman of the City People’s Council, and Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung visited the Fraunhofer ENAS Institute and the Chemnitz Technology Centre in Germany. At Fraunhofer ENAS, Project Manager Benjamin Schreiber and local representatives welcomed the delegation and introduced the institute, part of Europe’s largest applied research network, specializing in micro- and nanoelectronics, smart sensors, 3D integration, flexible electronics, biomedicine, autonomous vehicles, and Industry 4.0 applications. The delegation toured Fraunhofer’s facilities and key products. The institute expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation with Asia, particularly Southeast Asia, including training partnerships and expert exchanges with Vietnamese universities as well as those in Da Nang. At the meeting, representatives of Chemnitz’s business association also shared information about local enterprises and discussed opportunities for collaboration with Da Nang businesses. Chairman Nguyen Duc Dung outlined Da Nang’s strategy to become an international partner in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital twins, cloud computing, and robotics, while stressing the importance of cooperation with German partners, especially Fraunhofer ENAS, in semiconductors and AI. Both sides discussed joint programmes on training, research, and student exchanges, building on initiatives proposed by Prof. Dr. Harald Kuhn during his earlier visit to Da Nang. A souvenir from Nguyen Duc Dung to Benjamin Schreiber Chairman Nguyen Duc Dung also extended an invitation to Harald Kuhn and his colleagues to return to Da Nang soon to further realise the discussed cooperation programmes. At the Chemnitz Technology Centre, CEO Jens Weber introduced its startup support mission in partnership with Fraunhofer ENAS.
