Tiếng ViệtDuring a working trip to Austria, Da Nang authorities on 17 November hosted a business roundtable titled “Da Nang – A Rising Financial and Technology Hub in Vietnam” at the Embassy of Vietnam in Vienna.
Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang delivered his speech at the event.
The event was attended by Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Ngo Xuan Thang; Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh; the leaders of municipal departments and representatives of the Embassy of Vietnam in Austria.
At the event, the Da Nang leaders highlighted Da Nang’s strategic position as the central metropolis of Vietnam, connecting the North – South and East – West and lying on the vital East – West Economic Corridor.
With synchronized transport infrastructure, including the Tien Sa port, an international airport and modern logistics facilities, Da Nang is regarded as one of the country’s most dynamic and competitive cities.
Alongside infrastructure, the city is prioritizing high-tech sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), big data and automation, while strengthening links between universities and industry to build a high-quality workforce.

The roundtable, officials noted, offered a valuable opportunity to learn from Austria’s experience and explore effective models for sustainable cooperation.
In a keynote titled ‘Building Vietnam’s International Financial Centre (IFC) in Da Nang – Vision, Strategy and Global Partnerships’, the Da Nang leaders underlined that establishing a regional-level financial center is a strategic step to elevate Da Nang’s economic standing and support Vietnam’s long-term, sustainable growth.
The strategy will require coordinated reforms, from improving regulatory frameworks and attracting top talent to expanding financial-technology infrastructure and building a transparent, competitive business environment.

At the business information session, leading Austrian financial institutions shared perspectives on cooperation potential with Da Nang’s IFC initiative.
A second session, ‘Da Nang – Vietnam’s New Silicon Valley’, spotlighted the city’s advantages to become a national high-tech hub: integrated infrastructure, strong quality-of-life indicators, abundant IT talent and a rapidly growing innovation ecosystem.

Da Nang is accelerating development of hi-tech parks, research centres, startup programmes and talent attraction schemes, while opening new investment opportunities in semiconductors and AI, from component manufacturing and chip design to applied AI solutions.
The city is strongly committed to creating a transparent and business-friendly investment environment, working alongside enterprises to foster the development of a ‘new Silicon Valley’ for Vietnam.
Concluding the event, Vice Secretary Ngo Xuan Thang emphasized that feedback from Austrian partners will help refine the city’s development strategy.

Da Nang hopes to strengthen cooperation with Austria and Europe as a whole in research, technology transfer, human-resource training, data development, cybersecurity, smart-city initiatives, and green finance.
The Vietnamese city has always affirmed its commitment to a transparent investment climate, supportive public services and policies designed to accompany investors.
