Exhibition highlights 50 years of Da Nang’s creation and development

An archival exhibition titled “Da Nang: 50 Years of Creation and Development” took place at the Da Nang Museum on November 7. The exhibition showcases over 200 archival documents, photos, and records tracing 50 years of the formation, renovation, and development of former Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province. Material is organised into two themes: – Stabilisation and Reconstruction (1975 – 1996): highlighting the recovery after national reunification, economic restoration, and improved livelihoods after reunification; and – Da Nang and Quang Nam on the Path of Development (1997 – 2025): reflecting Da Nang’s transformation into a modern, coastal, smart city and Quang Nam’s progress under the model of heritage-industry-seaport synergy. Together, the exhibits offer a vivid overview of the region’s journey from recovery to innovation and sustainable growth. A key highlight of the exhibition is the July 2025 milestone, when the National Assembly passed Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 on provincial-level administrative reorganisation. The resolution announced the merger of Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province into a new administrative unit called Da Nang City, aiming to create an integrated space for urban development, tourism, seaports, industry, and modern services. The themed exhibition space guides visitors through the city’s distinct stages of growth. In his remarks, Phan Van Binh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs, said the exhibition honours archival heritage as the “living memory” of history and fosters civic pride among younger generations.
