Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange in December 2025 promises dazzling array of events

The 21st edition of the Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange program in 2025 will take place from December 26 – 28 in the An Hoi Sculpture Garden, the ancient town, and Hoi An Dong and Hoi An Tay wards, Da Nang. Photo: X.DUNG Hosted by the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Consulate General of Japan in the city, the program will feature a wealth of attractive activities, promising to bring interesting experiences to both residents and visitors. In particular, the opening ceremony of the program will be organized at 7:30 pm on December 26 at the An Hoi Sculpture Garden stage, with the highlight to be the performance of traditional Japanese drums, and an art program by famous Vietnamese and Japanese singers and art troupes. On December 27 and 28, visitors will experience the “Traditional Japanese palanquin procession”, and enjoy the Sakai calligraphy performance and tea ceremony at the Cam Pho Communal House. Also, they will have the opportunity to participate in the cosplay contest dressing up famous Japanese comic and cartoon characters on the afternoon of December 28. Notably, at 5:00 pm on December 26 and 27, the wedding ceremony of Princess Ngoc Hoa and Merchant Araki Sotaro – a symbol of Vietnam – Japan cultural exchange – will be recreated in the old quarter and the Cau Bridge to serve both locals and tourists. During the 3-day program, a variety of cultural exchange, traditional art performances, street art programs and interactive activities such as origami folding, Yukata dressing, and the “Hizen Ceramics – Storytelling Patterns” exhibition, will also be held.
