Supporting SMEs to improve ability to access capital

A training programme on improving capital access capacity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involving tourism and commerce industries is taking place in Da Nang on June 13 and 14. The event was co-organised by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Department of Business Development under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the Da Nang Business Support Centre under the municipal Department of Planning and Investment. The training programme focuses on strengthening the capacity to identify and assess the financial situation of enterprises through the analysis of groups of financial indicators in regular financial reports; providing a general picture of the capital market and finance for SMEs in the service and trade sectors; and introducing common mistakes in the process of accessing capital and solutions. After the training programme, enterprises will receive one-on-one consultancy with experts. The training programme is part of the project on improving private sector competitiveness in Viet Nam (USAID IPSC) and the project on promoting linkages for small and medium enterprises (USAID LinkSME). Moreover, USAID is providing other support packages valued at up to US$150,000/ developing SME, and support packages for cooperatives and business households.
