Swiss – Viet Economic Forum 2025 in Da Nang opens up new opportunities for sustainable cooperation

The Swiss – Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) 2025, organized by the People’s Committee of Da Nang in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Vietnam and its partners, officially opened in the city on Tuesday. Photo: NGOC HA Held from November 3 – 5, this year’s event has “Innovative Partnerships for Sustainable Growth: Connecting Vietnam with Regional and Global Ecosystems” as its theme. The forum gathers 400 delegates who are leaders of government agencies, the business communities, investors, academia and ecosystem partners from Switzerland, Vietnam, Europe and ASEAN, aiming to transform high-level dialogue into practical cooperation. Discussions and thematic sessions at the event highlight trends in global digital economy integration and development. Some key topics of interest to experts and businesses include “Regional and global trade integration”, “Legal framework for trade and foreign investment”, “Innovation in fintech and digital finance” and especially “The development of an international financial center”. Within the framework of the forum, cooperation agreements between Swiss partners and Da Nang were signed. Participating delegates took part in programs introducing investment opportunities in Da Nang, as well as visited a number of key socio-economic facilities such as the Da Nang High-Tech Park, the Lien Chieu Port and the Software Park No. 2. They also participated in B2B – B2G connection sessions to foster partnerships in vocational education, innovation and sustainable development. Photo: NGOC HA In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu noted that the upgrading of the Vietnam – Switzerland relations to a Comprehensive Partnership early this year marked the beginning of an era of comprehensive and sustainable cooperation towards mutually beneficial development in economy, trade, investment, and other key sectors. He added that the upgrading of the Vietnam – Switzerland relationship created very favorable conditions for Vietnamese localities, including Da Nang, to further expand cooperative ties with potential Swiss partners. Da Nang has been chosen as the location for the development of the Vietnam International Financial Center (IFC) and the Free Trade Zone (FTZ). This is considered as a new growth engine of national strategic significance. The city is committed to creating the most favorable conditions to build an outstanding legal and institutional environment, Mr. Buu said. “Da Nang sees great potential in areas which Switzerland has strengths such as finance, hi-tech and tourism. Therefore, the forum is a bridge to help promote and attract more Swiss and international investors to explore the city’s investment environment and seek its business opportunities” Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu emphasized. For Da Nang, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs always accompanies the city in promoting investment, mobilizing resources and advertising its image as a dynamic, friendly and livable city. She underscored that Da Nang stood out among Vietnam’s localities for its efforts to develop international cooperation relations. To date, the city has set up cooperative relations with more than 60 localities across over 20 countries, signed 120 cooperation agreements, and organized many regional and international events. According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hang, Switzerland is not only an economic partner but also a long-term companion, contributing to helping Vietnam realize its green development and innovation goals.
